Arsenal demand £20m for Hector Bellerin transfer and could trigger Man Utd’s move for Kieran Trippier

ARSENAL have told all parties interested in Hector Bellerin they must cough up at least £20million for the Spaniard.

And with Atletico Madrid waiting to pounce, it could see Kieran Trippier move to Manchester United.

And that could trigger Man Utd’s move for Kieran Trippier[/caption]

Atletico were said to be considering a swap deal involving Trippier and Bellerin.

But SunSport exclusively revealed this week Trippier has told his England team-mates he wants to move to Old Trafford.

As a result, Atletico have been told to cough up the dough if they want to bring Bellerin back to his homeland to replace Trippier, according to CBS.

The Three Lions star only joined the Spanish giants last summer for £20m on a three-year deal, won LaLiga in his first season and is said to be happy in Spain.

But boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer believes the 30-year-old is the ideal player to strengthen his defensive options and also provide competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back.

And though he has been a big hit in Spain, it appears the ex-Tottenham man is excited about the prospect of a switch to Old Trafford in his native North-West if the opportunity arises.

The former Burnley defender remains central to Atleti’s plans having been instrumental in helping Diego Simeone’s side to the LaLiga title.

But United believe they can persuade the Spaniards to strike a deal if they come up with a bid in the region of £15-20m.

And reports also suggest he is house-hunting near Old Trafford.

Bellerin is said to be a favourite of Atletico sporting director Andrea Berta.

The Barcelona academy product is set to lead a mass exodus at Arsenal this summer.

The Spanish full-back wants a new challenge after ten years at the Emirates and fancies moving to another country.

And Arsenal boss Arteta will not stand in the way of Bellerin, 26, as he plans to revamp his underperforming squad.

Manchester City academy graduate Trippier has previously played for Barnsley, Burnley and Tottenham – helping the latter reach the 2019 Champions League final.

Trippier has played down talk of a move from the Spanish capital, telling the press: “I’m enjoying myself so much out there.

“I’m just fully focused on doing the best I can for my club. I’m absolutely delighted I won the title out there.

“People might not focus on me as much because I’m out there in Spain, the Premier League is the Premier League.

“But I’m enjoying myself, loving it, my family are enjoying it, there’s sunshine every single day so I just need to keep doing as well as I can for Atletico.

“I’m delighted I’ve done that and now I’m part of England. I know Gareth watches the games along with his staff.

“So for me it’s just about doing as well as I can at the highest level to try to be selected for as long as I can with the national team.”

CRYSTAL PALACE are back on the hunt for a new managerial appointment after they were unable to reach agreement with Nuno Espirito Santo.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers manager was the overwhelming favourite to replace Roy Hodgson.

Swansea boss Steve Cooper is favourite for the Crystal Palace job

Bookmakers Betfair had priced the highly-rated Portuguese coach at 1/5 to take the reins at Selhurst Park.

But after lengthy negotiations – the two parties were unable to strike a deal and both are seeking other avenues.

It’s believed the main source of the breakdown was over Nuno’s sizeable backroom staff.

The 47-year-old wanted to bring a significant contingent to South London with him but the budget for their contracts couldn’t be agreed.

The search for Hodgson’s successor continues and there’s a new favourite for the vacant position.

Next Crystal Palace Manager odds – Betfair

  • Steve Cooper – 17/10 – Was 4/1
  • Eddie Howe – 10/3
  • Sean Dyche – 6/1
  • Frank Lampard – 15/2 – Was 10/1
  • Nuno Esprito Santo – 15/2
  • Valerian Ismael – 9/1
  • Chris Wilder – 9/1
  • Scott Parker – 10/1

Having been there or thereabouts in the betting market, Swansea boss Steve Cooper has been installed as the frontrunner at odds of 17/10.

Cooper guided Swansea to back-to-back play-off campaigns during his two seasons at the helm and led England to victory in the under-17s World Cup in 2017.

His closest challenger is former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe.

The 43-year-old remains a free agent having turned down the gig at Celtic because of underwhelming transfer options and more backroom staff disputes.

Howe has yo-yoed in the market having started as favourite and drifted out to double figures but he’s back near the summit at 10/3.

Burnley’s Sean Dyche and axed Chelsea boss Frank Lampard are available at 6/1 and 15/2 respectively with Nuno still lurking despite recent claims at 15/2.

Barnsley’s Valerian Ismael and Chris Wilder are locked together at 9s with Fulham chief Scott Parker completing the list at 10/1.

BRUNO LAGE has vowed to write a new exciting chapter in Wolves history after taking charge of the Molineux club this morning.

The 45-year-old former Benfica boss replaced fellow countryman Nuno Esperito Santo who parted company with the club at the end of the season after four years of progress.

However Lage has told the club’s fans he intends to build on that success and wants to kick off a new era of progress.

Lage, who was previously Carlos Carvalhal’s assistant at Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea, said: “It’s a big opportunity, I’m very happy because I return to this country, and return to be the manager of a big team – a team, a club that wants to do history and compete in the Premier League.

“So I’m happy, excited, with a big ambition to do great things for this club.

“I was here (English football) for three years, so I know Wolves. Now the best thing to do, the next thing to do, is to know everyone better.

“The club, the fans, and also to try to create a plan, just not for the next game or the next training, but for the future.

“It’s very important for me to create that dynamic of teamwork here in this building, to try to realise what we are doing in the future.”

Lage was known for his cavalier style of football at Benfica where he smashed the club’s scoring record’s in a stunning first season with the Portuguese giants.

He visited Molineux last night before returning to Portugal later today to draw up his plans – and admits he can’t wait to return to meet his players for pre-season training in the first week of July.

“It’s been a busy first day,” he said.

“Trying to know everyone, to see what the club has to offer, and my first idea is to try to link everyone together, because I want to create a good dynamic of group, with my staff, with all the departments of the club.

“I have tried to link all together to start to build up the new cycle.

“I think it’s a good opportunity to understand what Nuno did in these four years and my ambition is to continue and to improve what he did in those four years.”
