Emelia Jackson has welcomed her first child with partner Craig Gersbach.

The 32-year-old, who was crowned the winner of MasterChef last year, announced the happy news on Monday via a sweet post on Instagram Stories.

Sharing a photo of herself cradling her newborn, the Melbourne-based pastry chef wrote in the caption: ‘In love in a way I never knew was possible.’

Emelia announced her pregnancy in December, uploading a photo to Instagram of herself posing with her baby bump on display.

‘Excuse the toilet in the background but this baby is popping today… Sous chef coming in June,’ she wrote as she posed in her bathroom mirror.

The soon-to-be-mother was beaming as she cradled her stomach with one hand while taking the mirror selfie with the other.

Shortly after she made the announcement, Emelia was inundated with well wishes from a number of her MasterChef co-stars.

‘Omg Milsy! Biggest congrats on the choux bun in the oven,’ gushed Poh Ling Yeow.

‘So bloody exciting! Bubba Mills,’ wrote Brendan Pang, while Tessa Boersma simply posted three love heart emojis.

Meanwhile Rose Adam wrote: ‘This is amazing. Congratulations,’ and MasterChef Judge Jock Zonfrillo shared an emoji of a fist bump and an explosion.

Little is known about Emelia and Craig’s relationship as she rarely posts pictures of them together on Instagram, nor does she name or tag him when she does.

It appears the couple have been together for at least two years.

Emelia first shared a selfie with Craig to Facebook in July 2018. She has posted just a handful of pictures with him since they made their social media debut.

The couple’s exciting news comes after Emelia was crowned the winner of MasterChef Australia: Back To Win earlier this year.

She took home a whopping $250,000 – which she says will help build her cake business – and the MasterChef 2020 trophy.

Emelia beat out runner-up Laura Sharrad, who was undone by her overly icy gelato dessert, which was accidentally left in an open freezer.

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s awkward sex question for NRL star Latrell Mitchell

Radio host Jackie O’ Henderson was left red-faced on Wednesday after asking an NRL star if he planned to ‘pick up’ before the State of Origin opener – only for the sportsman to clarify he’s married with children.

Henderson and her co-host Kyle Sandilands were chatting to Latrell Mitchell of the South Sydney Rabbitohs and NSW Blues on The Kyle and Jackie O Show when they seemingly forgot he was in a committed relationship.

Mitchell, 23, who was relaxing in Townsville with NSW teammates Josh Addo-Carr and Damien Cook, was first asked by Sandilands if the players were ‘cruising’ the town for ‘the talent’.

Henderson, 46, laughed and said: ‘Are you allowed to pick up before Origin day?’

Unbeknownst to the radio presenters, Mitchell is actually married and has kids.

Sandilands, who was amused by his co-host’s gaffe, said: ‘Surely their wives would have a problem with that? You know his wife listens [to the show], Jackie? Why don’t you say hi?’

‘I’m married, I’m married,’ Mitchell said.

Henderson seemed genuinely sorry about the gaffe and apologised to Mitchell.

The rugby league star is married to his long-term partner, Brielle Mercy, with whom he shares two children.

Their second child, Aleena, was born in April last year.

Mitchell will be making a big return to the NSW Origin side after being dropped in controversial circumstances after the 2019 opening match.

The Blues are trying to reclaim an Origin win after losing last year’s series.

Sandilands finished the interview with some motivational talk against the Maroons, saying: ‘Just get out there and f**king smash these guys.’

Royal expert claims Meghan and Harry chose Lilibet to ‘secure the Sussex brand’

Published

A royal expert in Australia has weighed in on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s decision to use the Queen‘s nickname Lilibet for their newborn daughter.

Speaking to The Morning Show on Wednesday, royal commentator Angela Mollard suggested they did so to ensure the Sussex brand remained connected to the palace, regardless of the status of their royal titles.

Mollard also said the Queen’s hands may have been tied regarding the use of the name, suggesting Harry and Meghan may have ‘complained to Oprah’ if she said ‘no’.

‘It’s not a great look’: Royal commentator Angela Mollard (left) questioned the appropriateness of Megan Markle and Prince Harry using the Queen’s ‘personal’ name for their daughter so soon after publicly criticising the royal family. ‘I imagine they use the name Lilibet to secure the brand, the Sussex brand, to make that connection to the palace,’ she told hosts Kylie Gillies and Larry Emdur, suggesting they were using it for strategic reasons in case they lose their titles.

Mollard said she liked the name, but that it was ‘too close’ to the royal family that they have chosen to separate from.

‘It’s a personal name. It’s a name that Phillip obviously called Elizabeth. It’s too close,’ she said.

‘But could you imagine – if the Queen had said “no” they could have gone on Oprah and [complained] “yeah she wouldn’t let us use that name”‘.

‘I imagine they use the name Lilibet to secure the brand, the Sussex brand’: Mollard also told hosts Larry Emdur (left) and Kylie Gillies (right) that the Sussexes may have used the Queen’s name for strategic reasons, in case they lose their royal titles down the track

Mollard admitted that Harry had been fond of the name Lili for a number of years, but said the Duke of Sussex lost the right to use the name by criticising her during the Apple TV+ docuseries The Me You Can’t See last month.

‘When you trounce your grandmother for her poor parenting and then you go and take her name, it’s not a great look,’ she said.

Mollard said the Queen likely feels ‘disheartened’ by the way Harry and Meghan have spoken about her to the media, and that using the name Lilibet is in poor taste.

‘It just doesn’t fit with me’: Mollard said the Queen likely feels ‘disheartened’ by the way Harry and Meghan have spoken about her to the media, and that using the name Lilibet is in poor taste

‘To have [used the name Lilibet] so soon after criticising the monarchy, it just doesn’t fit with me,’ she said.

The Duke and Duchess Sussex plunged the royal family into crisis with their televised Oprah interview in March, during which they accused an unnamed royal of making a racist remark about their son Archie’s skin tone and claimed Harry’s family had failed to help Meghan when she was suicidal.

Last month, Harry also suggested in the Apple TV+ docuseries The Me You Don’t See that his father had allowed his children to ‘suffer’ when it came to the media because of his own negative experience growing up in the Royal Family.

Sweet family nickname for Queen that inspired Harry and Meghan’s name for their baby daughter

Lilibet – the Queen’s family nickname – was first used when Princess Elizabeth was just a toddler and unable to pronounce her own name properly.

Her grandfather King George V would affectionately call her ‘Lilibet’, imitating her own attempts to say Elizabeth.

The sweet nickname stuck and she became Lilibet to her family from then on.

The Duke of Edinburgh also referred to his wife as Lilibet, writing to his mother in law after their wedding: ‘Lilibet is the only ‘thing’ in the world which is absolutely real to me.’

Harry and Meghan’s new baby daughter – the Queen’s 11th great-grandchild – will be known as Lili. A variation on Lily, the flower is often seen to symbolise purity, commitment, rebirth and fertility.

Lili’s middle name Diana honours Harry’s later mother Diana, Princess of Wales. It is no surprise the couple chose to pay tribute to Diana, who died in a car crash in 1997 when Harry was just 12.

Lili has been born almost a month before the princess would have celebrated her 60th birthday on July 1. Her cousin Princess Charlotte also has Diana as one of her middle names, as well as Elizabeth. She is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana.

Harry and the Duke of Cambridge are due to unveil a statue of their mother at Kensington Palace on her birthday, but the arrangements have yet to be confirmed, amid a long-reported rift between the brothers.

The Sussexes’ tribute to the Queen is likely to be seen as an olive branch to the monarch and the rest of the family.

Harry and Meghan plunged the Windsors into crisis with their Oprah Winfrey interview in March when they accused an unnamed royal of making a racist remark about their son Archie’s skin tone before he was born.

They also said the institution failed to help Meghan when she was suicidal. But during the televised interview with Winfrey, the Sussexes lauded the Queen.

Harry spoke of his respect for his grandmother, while Meghan said: ‘The Queen… has always been wonderful to me.’
