Belle of the ball: Raye exuded glamour in a showstopper gold gown on Thursday as she debuted her new single, Call On Me, at Magnum’s #ShowYourLayers campaign event in London

The star exuded confidence as she showcased her toned legs in the vintage-inspired gown.

She boosted her height with embroidered gold heels and decorated her ears with statement silver earrings.

The raven-haired beauty nailed old Hollywood glamour with her tight curls and a slick of red lipstick.

The musician recently admitted lockdown had been ‘mentally really hard’ and affected her professionally as she didn’t feel ‘inspired’ to write any songs for herself.

Wow: The singer, 23, sauntered into the launch party in her polka dot dress, complete with a frilled bardot neckline and thigh-high split, before taking centre stage to perform her track

She told how though tackling the first stay at home order last year was ‘tricky’, she’s managed to have some highs chart-wise in her career, adding that her experience has been ‘bittersweet’.

Raye explained to Rollercoaster magazine: ‘It’s been really tricky, but also really brilliant and positive. Professionally I’ve had some really big songs over lockdown. I’ve had two Top 10 hits, so it’s been really great from that perspective.

‘But at the same time I’ve found it mentally really hard. The first lockdown I didn’t really do much writing for my own project, just lots of promo, finishing off songs and then writing for other artists.

Classic: The raven-haired beauty nailed old Hollywood glamour with her tight curls and a slick of red lipstick

‘I wasn’t really inspired to write for myself. Then 2021 started and I started making an album.’

She added that it’s been ‘bittersweet’, adding that everyone has had to ‘sacrifice something.’

The London-born beauty is an acclaimed singer-songwriter who was recently nominated for a BRIT Award in the British Single category for her tune with musician Regard, Secrets.

The Veronicas’ Lisa Origliasso and her husband Logan Huffman have purchased a stylish and eye-catching rural property in far northern New South Wales.

The retreat cost the couple a hefty $970,000 according to property records, which is $300,000 more than what it was purchased for just under a year ago.

The house is located around the remote Tweed valley area.

Enchanting: The Veronicas’ Lisa Origliasso and her husband Logan Huffman have purchased a stylish and eye-catching rural property in far northern New South Wales

Even though the property had appreciated significantly in value, Lisa, 36, and Logan, 31, snatched up the retreat after the price tag was lowered recently from 1.2 million.

It was bought by the last owners in June of 2020 for $650,000.

The singer and her twin sister Jess previously lived together at the Sunshine Coast town of Landsborough. That property, like this new rural retreat, also featured a lush nature-themed backdrop.

The siblings eventually sold that house for $770,000 in October of 2020 as Lisa moved in with Logan.

Lisa and Logan’s new house contains three bedrooms, two bathrooms and is built on two hectares of land that takes in picture-worthy views of Mt Warning and the Border Ranges.

The interior is comprised of a stylish, nature-themed design made with fine grades of wood, a centrailised staircase and expansive, open ceiling.

The property also features a timber cottage with a cathedral top and stunning surround veranda.

The large open space gives the couple the chance to also run livestock and grow an assortment of fruits and vegetables organically.

It also features five kilowatts of solar power and a nearby creek.

‘People just walked into it and loved it,’ said selling agent Matthew Skene, who explained the retreat received ‘multiple offers.’

Hacks creators hint at what’s in store for season two after dramatic finale of the hit HBO Max show

The hit series’ first season ended with quite a cliffhanger on Thursday night.

And the creators behind HBO Max’s new hit Hacks – Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs and Jen Statsky – are teasing the various directions the show may take in the next season, after the emotional fireworks that ended the first.

The group spoke to both Collider and Entertainment Weekly ahead of the season finale, to discuss the major ‘fallout’ on the horizon for the fraught relationship between the series’s two main characters: Ava, played by Hannah Einbinder, and Deborah, brought to life by the unparalleled Jean Smart.

Comedy creators: The creators behind HBO Max’s new hit Hacks – (from left) Jen Statsky, Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs (seen with series star Hannah Einbinder in red) – are teasing the various directions the show may take in the next season

‘They’re in a really good place right now, but there’s trouble afoot,’ Aniello teased to EW.

‘Ava, in an immature impulsive moment sent an email to those British writers, giving all the dirt on Deborah and concerning how far they’ve come, the idea that there’s something floating out there that fully will disrupt that equilibrium of peacefulness and happiness is something that Ava’s going to have to deal with in a major way.’

That email, of course, was the result of a drinking binge and desire to get revenge against the pompous Deborah, after a particularly grueling fight with the comedy diva that involved her slapping Ava.

Legent: Hacks stars Jean Smart as an aging, iconic Las Vegas comic, and Einbinder as a comedy writer brought in to help freshen up her act

Added Statsky, ‘What you see happens is that Deborah is obviously so hurt by feeling betrayed by Ava and as she speaks to it in episode 9 and the episode before letting someone in the way she let Ava in is similar to the way she let her husband in and was betrayed years ago.

‘And so this wound is so fresh to her now. And so their emotions are super heightened in that scene.’

Aniello also discussed the difference between conceiving where to go with season two of the show, as opposed to writing season one before it became a hit.

‘They’re in a really good place right now, but there’s trouble afoot,’ Aniello teased of what’s to come

‘I think it’s really interesting now that people are reacting to it and seeing it and starting to feel a little bit, maybe even ownership over some of these characters in a way that I think is cool,’ she shared with Collider.

‘It’ll be interesting to see how that affects our writing moving forward, because we really wrote Season 1 in a full vacuum. No one knows during any Season 1, you know? So you write based on what you feel you want to say.’

Earlier this month, it was announced that HBO Max has renewed Hacks for a second season.

Added Statsky: ‘What you see happens is that Deborah is obviously so hurt by feeling betrayed by Ava’

The comedy series stars Smart as an aging, iconic Las Vegas comic, and Einbinder as a comedy writer described by the streamer as ‘an entitled, outcast 25-year-old.’

HBO Max said that Hacks is ‘consistently ranking in the top ten most viewed titles,’ according to The Hollywood Reporter, and has been ‘top performer’ on the platform.

The hit show marks yet another recent victory for the inimitable Smart, originally of Designing Women fame.

The veteran actress, 69, has also recently appeared in acclaimed television fare such as Mare of Easttown and Emmy Award-winning Watchmen, both also on HBO Max, as well as FX’s Legion.
